Spherical roller thrust bearings have asymmetrically sphered rollers. These bearings have one shaft washer raceway and one housing washer raceway and the load is transmitted at an angle to the bearing axis. The rollers conform closely to the inner and outer raceways giving the bearings high load carrying capacity and are internally self aligning.
These bearings are suitable for applications where the shaft relative to the housing bore is prone to angular misalignments.
